[FIX] Odd Scroll Direction in OSX Lion

When I first got OSX Lion I was astonished how fast it was (not that OSX Snow Leopard wasn’t), but Lion was a ton faster. One thing I noticed, and many other non-touch screen mac users noticed was the backwards scrolling that Apple instituted. I felt like I was on crack, because I was so used to the opposite. Below I provide a fix to this problem:

How to Fix

  • Click the Apple logo – in the upper left corner of your screen.
  • Click System Preferences – in the drop down list.
  • Click Trackpad – then find the “Scroll Direction Natural Box” (which is checked by system install default) and uncheck it.
  • That’s it ! – Enjoy scrolling naturally on a mac (NOT touchpad).

On a touchpad, this gesture should be reversed, but for the majority of devices using OSX Lion, this “natural” way of using a trackpad is not “natural” to the way we have learned to use an operating system.
