Any serious technology-enthusiast knows that Yahoo within the past three-four years has been producing awful products, similar to that of Microsoft. Below will conclude really where Yahoo has failed in former years and what it needs to fix asap (whether they become bought out by Microsoft or not)

Their Email System
Factors like Spam Protection, Real-Time email updates on the fly, and advertising will push any new-user to Gmail. You might say, well why Gmail has Ads too! Gmail has ads that are non-intrusive, and all flashy. They have basic text links not built into where you will most likely NOT be clicking to access a new email or update a contact.
Their Failing Ability To Innovate
Yahoo is acting too much like their soon-to-be-predecessor (Microsoft), as soon as Google had created Gmail with contacts built-in to the email platform, Yahoo was soon to jump onto the innovative-bandwagon. However, by that point all the individuals who had been using Yahoo for so long (myself included) switched to Gmail.
Yahoo’s ability to innovate in just one product alone (their original selling product) no longer works.
This is why companies like 37 Signals will prevail in the future and not companies like Yahoo because they understand the fundamental concept of post-dot-com boom websites: simplicity, ease-of-use, and innovation in favor of the user. One-stop-portal-like websites were a thing of the late-90s. Wake up Yahoo… or rather (Microsoft) .

When I first got OSX Lion I was astonished how fast it was (not that OSX Snow Leopard wasn’t), but Lion was a ton faster. One thing I noticed, and many other non-touch screen mac users noticed was the backwards scrolling that Apple instituted. I felt like I was on crack, because I was so used to the opposite. Below I provide a fix to this problem:
On a touchpad, this gesture should be reversed, but for the majority of devices using OSX Lion, this “natural” way of using a trackpad is not “natural” to the way we have learned to use an operating system.
Let’s be “real” here before the android OS came out, everyone thought nothing could take over and beat the iPhone (iOS).
After just a year or two, Android stands on top of the market.
Despite, how head-to-head Android OS vs iOS is from a functionality and connectivity standpoint: each have one major caveat. That caveat is – battery life.
Until manufacturers and phone creators like Htc, Apple, Lg, etc. make their phones more battery-resourceful, heavy users of smart phones will need to resort to other methods to combat this.
One of the best purchases I’ve made is buying an external battery charger (for apple fanboys – use a “juice pack”). I just have purchase this one. A pending review of it will accompany this post, so stay tuned!

1. Jorte Calendar

The best calendar I’ve found to date that will sync up from not just GCalendar, but MS Exchange, iCal, etc.
The number one biggest flaw of them all – very little protection. For example: Google Docs recently leaked personal word documents created by users.
Cloud computing really lacks:
If our applications just stayed the way the are (aka on our computer) and not residing on some server, connected to the internet, 50k miles away – we would be good and we would still have our firewall in between our connection to our computer and the internet.
By having our secret documents on the web with financial information, student record information such as GPA and grades, and other private information being opened to anyone with a web browser – that’s pretty scary.
As discussed above with Google Docs, if you cannot even protect your system enough with a basic login system to protect word documents how are you going to make me trust you with say my banking records?
Moving MY Files – Did you know cloud computing companies move your information from one server to another without your knowledge? In addition, they do not take the time to make sure your information on an old server is removed? Basically, there are very easily setting many clients up for identity theft. Think about it… by allowing companies to move YOUR files WITHOUT your knowledge around on their server, their basically duplicating your information and making it twice as likely to be found if a cloud server is hacked.
Why go the cloud-environment to save money when the risks outweigh the costs? ROI people! Why give up YOUR control over YOUR documents when you do not have to? Saving money in any small business should be one of your top priorities, but not when you risk identity theft, loss of control of your files, and much much more.Over time cloud computing will most likely take over, but security really needs get to work for that to happen.
